Lara Lang and Cho Chang (Superheroes crushes)

Being a fan of Harry Potter and since I have recently started watching Smallville like a mad person...

This thing has intrigued me.... well... its as u see Superheros' crushes and the story behind them..... they are:

1. Lara Lang of Smallville (Superman)

2. Cho Chang of Harry Potter

Well if anyone has an eye they will notice what I have.... that NOT just their names sound similar but alot of stuff in the two stories is similar or you can say same..... so here we go....

1. Both our superheroes initially get nervous around their crushes....

2. Well this is my favorite... well...... notice that in both cases our hero loves the girl but unfortunately our dream girl already has someone she is crazy about..... and then here is the twist both their dream guys go to battle and die in the battle (fight)...

3. When they competition dies they get close initially .... and after that they blow it...

4. Well they look very similar... he he he.....

But as far as i have seen our heroes romantic life is hell like similar........ they are so identical it seems like the same person has written them....

BIT finally gets a LUG

Yiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiippppppppppppppeeeeeeeee............!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BIT LUG finally becomes a reality...... All thanks to Prof. Abhijeet Mustafi... That come this Saturday i.e the 30th of august 2008 BIT LUG will finally will have its first interactive session......

The Time Line :

Initial start :

It all started started when my friend "applegrew" made me switch to Linux (Kubutnu) I had to ask him everything initially.... we are now like core Linux users.. so we started the support for Linux by setting up a local repository for Debian based Linux (mainly.. Ubuntu, Kubuntu, edubutnu, Linux mint... etc).. He used to praise Kubuntu so much that a few of our friends had kept his name only Kubuntu.. Well I learned alot from him and still I do although now he has left the college and gone for job....

The realization :

Initially only I and applegrew used to discuss about a LUG, but when he left i realised that now more and more students of BIT want to switch to Linux but as i had him to fall back upon not many people had a reliable source to fall back upon and many installed Linux and removed it as they had no clue what was going on and others did not know how to install it only... a defeat for Linux and open source??? a victory for windows???... NO!!! had to support Linux and help other free from Windows as i had.... I helped a few people initially but the load increased... I took this up with Prof. Abhijeet Mustafi he immediately agreed to help!!! But due to on going registrations, counselling and network restructuring the LUG was put on hold but not for long...

The Preparation:

We need a rough estimate for the number of students who were interested in Linux.... having a rough guess.. we thought it would be maximum 60... we launched a site for the same purpose... and well.... in just 3 days we got a overwhelming response with over 127 registrations!!!! Looking at the increasing the registrations had to be closed on the 3rd day...!!!!

To create the LUG like nothing else in BIT we had to think outside the box.... the 1st step was to create a very catchy logo for the LUG... I sat down with a junior DKD903 at 3 am on 28th and created the logo which you see at the top.... The logo was liked so much by all that it was decided to distribute stickers of the logo like that which we get with Ubuntu...

Initially on 25th it was decided to distribute Linux mint 5 to n00bs on the launch but then again thinking outside the we decided to change the distro to suite the needs of students in BIT like it would have the logo of BIT LUG into the coeee and would have Linuxdcpp (DC++), the life line of all BITian pre installed with a few other software like amarok etc and fully updated.. well this did not fully go as planned... We were successfull in creating the image but the size was 724 MB while the CDs are only 700 MB we tried overburn but it wont boot.... so back to the drawing board... and hope we can get a distro ready by tonight (29th August 2008)...

Future plans:

Well.. in BIT its not possible to look at the future but here is what we have thought of doing.... 1stly create a new distro either Ubuntu or Kubuntu based... 2ndly Get ID card made (valid for lifetime) just like the new ID cards BIt is giving... 3rdly Get agood guest lecture done out here...

As I have only time tillcoming May I should not be planning more into the future....

Wish us Good Luck and support us...!!!!

Mobile Messaging and chatting

I love chatting be it any kind pc, mobile, sms etc and Messaging also ....
In the age of the new high tech GPRS and mobile phones with wi fi facility i started to search for sites and software to chat on the go.... here is the best i have found online...

MOBILE CHATTING

MyGamma : (Comp link : http://wwww.mygamma.com wap link : http://wap.mygamma.com )
WEB BASED

My old time favorite using it since late 2005 when Airtel gave GPRS for Rs. 99 only...
but had stopped using it since it had become paid now again its free so logged in again
its a web based service i liked the interface it easy to use and understand... very simple... have met many cool frndz out there and i m still in touch with one of them...

Mygamma web interface is cool but slow while the wap interface is fast but buggy....
Mygamma requires u to have a cell phone as the login anme will be your phone number and for verification purposes....

You will find many people of different countries on this site...
at any given time there are more than 500 people online from india itself..

There are many ad links on the wap version of the site u may want to visit them also like

http://wap.zannel.com
and many more have not visited all

Friends and flirt
SOFTWARE BASED

This is available only for mobile phones... you can download it from the following links and install it on your mobile

http://www.friendandflirt.com/hl

alternatively u can also search it and download it from http://www.getjar.com

It is a Java based software so it shoud work on any Java enabled cell phones....

I like the interface of the software its nice easy to understand and use even for 1st timers...

I have used it on Nokia E90 via both GPRS and wi fi it works very well

The main and major drawback is that there are not many people online on it from around the world maxximum i have found are 33 and max girls 6 online at same time

PS. Like all chatting site even above sites have guys faking to be girls so BEWARE!!!

My Nick for both the above site is Ntweat ...

An Obsession Called DC

DC - Direct Connect.. used worldwide to share data.. especially colleges where all the hostels are divided into separate networks.. so when LAN came to our college in January 2007 hunt for hub software CD software etc started... my frnd applegrew was as usual the first one to crack the problem... he got the software and i hosted it... till my LAN went down for 1 semester main hub was some1 else but the next semester maximum users were the on my hub called "BIT Connect" ...
During July - December this hub made me from one of the most non existing entity to a person who was known all over campus (for whatever reason)... I was a guy who never me girls but as i was good with computers and as usual girls dont know anything about them i started meeting them.... During the time of Diwali I had a schedule like 4 different days I met 4 different girls... the last one i met a Diwali but i was so tiered that she said "You are very Shy in person" well back to the obsession.... Our happy days of enjoying came to an abrupt end when a guy from the college morphed pics of a couple of girls and shared them on DC in the preparation leave of December exams.. there was a complaint and the LAN was closed as there was no way to back trace who started it all...
In January my frnd applegrew and hex started working on a problem of installing a radius and dhcp server so that people could not change there ip addresses as they pleased which was possible at that time...
During the time of Holi our college LAN was hit by a virus which was ARP flooding the network, it was g/u.asdfgfg.com or something a chinese site adding a java script in the page to access this site. well as hex and applegrew both had gone to their homes for the holidays the task of reporting in the problem came down on me... I went and had a talk with the net admin of our college... while talking i got an idea that the problem our college had was with data being shared at the hubs not with people changing their IPs so a simpler plan was to monitor the contents on the hubs rather than having installing a dhcp and radius server which was more tedious... (anyway the final solution is this) I gave this idea to my frnd applegrew he searched and as usual he cracked he found a software called "JDCBOT" and made a Sherriffbot on its frame work (http://jdcbot.sourceforge.net/sub-projects.html#SheriffBot ) well it all tested out was a big success the college allowed the LAN to resume but only one Hub called " DC Hub " in the institute but I thank our college for leaving full control of the Hub in the hands of us students ...
Applegrew has became so much into DC and JDCbot that he has changed the framework of jdcbot to a much better version and we together are planning to create a alll new DC client name "DC#" (DC sharp) which is newer version of DC giving it a new life and much better user control. ( This all i can disclose till we are done with it)
And as for me DC has everything its a complete package.... i came to know girls of my college and had major crushes on them... and now to try my programming skills at it.. Scoring not so good marks DC has also added weight to my resume...

DC has really changed my life and ways more than one...

Bandwidth got is less than what is specified

The question "Why is the bandwidth specified by the operators always less than the bandwidth which we get?" has bugged me for ages I did some research and here is a small explanation. I have made the image so sorry if not that good.

Image :
The bandwidth which the operators is the speed of the switch and the switch may be connected to 'n' number of computers. So if the bandwidth specified is 5 MBps and 5 computers are surfing from the switch the bandwidth each computer will get is 1 MBps. Which is less than specified the only case in which a computer will get full 5 MBps bandwidth is when rest of the 4 computers are off.
Hope this is enough...

EVDO in India

Evolution-Data Optimized or Evolution-Data only, abbreviated as EV-DO or EVDO and often EV, is a telecommunications standard for the wireless transmission of data through radio signals, typically for broadband Internet access.

It uses multiplexing techniques including Code division multiple access (CDMA) as well as Time division multiple access (TDMA) to maximize both individual user's throughput and the overall system throughput. It is standardized by 3rd Generation Partnership Project 2 (3GPP2) as part of the CDMA2000 family of standards and has been adopted by many mobile phone service providers around the world – particularly those previously employing CDMA networks.

For further information on EVDO visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EVDO

I m an EVDO user and its really cool.. In India as far as i know only BSNL has launched this service..
EVDO is basically wireless high speed internet. The speed which BSNL gives is as good as ADSL speed. This is NOT the same as TATA Indicom's 'Plug to surf' or Reliance's mobile internet as they us CDMA 2.75 G technology while BSNL uses EV-DO 3 G technology. The bandwidth which TATA or Reliance give is maximum 144kbps while the bandwidth of BSNL EVDO is 2.4 MBps, cost of the USB modem (for all is nearly) is Rs 2,800. The modem is chinese which really bugs it is of ZTE but service is good.
The main drawback of this service is that it covers only a perticular city but in BSNL MP attemmpts are being made to give CDMA coverage throughout the state.
